Nothing sold as an office pod is soundproof, ours included, and any supplier who tells you otherwise is selling you a word rather than a number. What a good pod does is reduce speech to the point where it stops being intelligible in the room around it. That is a measurable thing, and this page explains what the measurement means and what ours is.

What soundproof would actually mean, and why nobody sells it
Truly soundproof means no sound passes in either direction. Achieving that takes mass, isolation from the floor and a sealed door, which is why recording studios are built into buildings rather than delivered on a pallet. It also takes a permanent structure, which is the opposite of what you are buying a pod for.
What a freestanding pod can do, and do well, is drop a raised voice below the level at which the room around it can follow the words. That is the useful threshold. Once speech is unintelligible, the conversation is private in every sense that matters, even though someone standing next to the pod can tell that a conversation is happening.
So the right question to a supplier is not whether it is soundproof. It is how many decibels of speech reduction the assembled pod achieves, under which standard, and with the ventilation running.
The number, and the conditions behind it
FocusPod is laboratory tested at greater than 29 dB speech level reduction under ISO 23351-1, the standard written specifically for furniture enclosures rather than for building walls.
Three details behind that figure are worth insisting on from anyone you compare us with. It was measured on the pod as assembled, not on a panel sample, because a panel tells you nothing about door seals and joints. It was measured with the ventilation running, because a figure taken with the fan off is not the pod you will own. And it is a speech measurement, which is the relevant one for an office, rather than a broadband figure that flatters the result with frequencies nobody speaks at.
What that gives you in a normal open-plan room is a conversation inside the pod sitting below the room's own background noise. Not silence. Privacy.
What changes the result after it arrives
The room does a lot of the work. A pod in a hard, reverberant space with a low background noise level performs worse in practice than the same pod in a carpeted office with normal activity, because there is less for the remaining sound to disappear into. Nothing about the pod changed; the room did.
Assembly matters too. Door seals that are not seated correctly, or a pod levelled onto an uneven floor so the frame is slightly out of square, will cost you a few decibels quietly and permanently. That is worth knowing whoever installs it.
And the direction people forget is inward. The same construction that keeps your call in keeps the floor's noise out, which is the half that makes it usable for concentration rather than only for confidentiality.

What is included as standard
Every FocusPod arrives with laminated glass front and rear, layered acoustic insulation, adjustable ventilation, dimmable LED lighting with adjustable colour temperature, power and an occupancy light. Speech level reduction is laboratory tested at greater than 29 dB under ISO 23351-1, the international standard written specifically for pods. Every pod is covered by our five-year structural and electrical warranty.
There is no separate charge for the black or white exterior or for the standard interior palette. Other exterior colours use the displayed upgrade price, and a custom interior colour is priced per pod. All of it is listed separately as you build, so nothing arrives as a surprise on the quotation.

Common questions
Is it actually soundproof?
No, and nor is anything else sold as an office pod. It is laboratory tested at greater than 29 dB speech level reduction under ISO 23351-1, which makes a conversation inside unintelligible in a normal office rather than inaudible. That is the standard the category is measured against.
Will I hear the office from inside?
Much less of it. The same construction works in both directions, which is what makes a pod usable for concentration as well as for confidential calls.
Does the ventilation make noise or let sound through?
The acoustic figure was measured with the ventilation running, so the number you are quoted already includes it. Ask any other supplier the same question, because not every published figure does.
Does it need electrical work?
No. It plugs into a standard socket and is not fixed to the building.
How long does delivery take?
Pods are made to the configuration you approve. Indicative lead time is around four weeks from a confirmed order, with delivery and installation scheduled on top, and your written quotation confirms the window for your address.
Can I see one before I order?
Yes. Turn any model around in the 3D configurator, watch the product films, and if you would like to be walked through it, we will do a live video walkthrough of the pod you are considering. Send us the room dimensions beforehand and we will talk through how it fits.
Are the front and rear both glass?
Yes. Every FocusPod has glass at both the front and rear. Standard glass is clear. Optional PDLC privacy glass can be selected for the front only or for both the front and rear.
Can I move the pod once it is installed?
Yes. Every FocusPod has built-in wheels and adjustable levelling feet. Raise the feet to move the pod on its wheels, then lower and adjust them to level the pod in its new position.
