The FocusPod Accessible

A wheelchair user rolls straight in. No step, no lip at the door, a clear opening of 872 mm, and enough clear floor inside to turn around in. It is a separate model rather than a wider version of an existing one, and it is tested to Class A acoustically, the same as the rest of the range, so nothing is given up for the access.

The numbers a specifier needs

These are the figures that get copied into a specification document, so they are on the page rather than behind an enquiry form.

Clear door opening: 872 mm.
Threshold: level. No step and no lip at the doorway.
Internal floor: 2070 x 1560 mm, clear.
Internal height: 2079 mm.
External: 2250 W x 1600 D x 2250 H mm.

The clear internal floor accommodates a 1500 mm turning circle, which is the figure most accessibility guidance is written around. We state the measurements rather than asserting compliance against any particular standard, because the code that applies to your building and your use is yours to confirm.

Class A acoustically, which is the part people assume was traded away

A level threshold is harder to build than a lipped one, because the lip is doing acoustic work: it is part of how the door seals. The usual assumption is that a step-free pod gives up performance to get the access.

This one does not. The FocusPod Accessible is tested at 30.8 dB speech level reduction, Class A under ISO 23351-1, with internal reverberation under 0.4 seconds. That is the same Class A result as the rest of the range, so the level threshold costs nothing acoustically.

Reverberation matters more here than the headline figure suggests. A hard-surfaced enclosure sounds boxy on a video call even when it is acoustically private, and under 0.4 seconds is what keeps speech clear inside rather than only contained.

Why it wins work beyond the one pod

Worth saying plainly, because it is the commercial reason this model exists. Public bodies, universities, hospitals and large corporates routinely put an accessibility requirement into procurement. A supplier with no accessible model is filtered out before price is discussed, whatever the rest of the range does.

So one accessible pod in a twelve-pod order is often the reason the whole order is possible. If you are writing a specification and you need an accessible unit alongside standard ones, everything comes from one supplier, on one quotation, with one delivery and one warranty.

What else is standard

The same as every other FocusPod: adjustable ventilation, dimmable lighting with adjustable colour temperature, power and data, internal controls, an occupancy indicator and a concealed door closer. GREENGUARD Gold certified for low emissions. Five-year structural and electrical warranty.

Electrical is specified for the destination market. Ask us which certification is available for your country before you order. An optional rear door is available if the pod needs to be entered from either side, which is worth considering where a wheelchair approach is easier from one direction.

Documentation for a tender

Ask and we will send the acoustic test report for this model, a dimensioned drawing, the GREENGUARD Gold certificate, the electrical certification for your market and the warranty terms. That is usually the full set a procurement officer needs, and none of it costs anything or commits you to anything.

Common questions

Is there really no step at the door?

No step and no lip. The threshold is level with the floor, which is what makes it usable rather than technically compliant.

Does the level threshold reduce the acoustic performance?

No. This model is tested at 30.8 dB speech level reduction, Class A under ISO 23351-1, the same result as the rest of the range.

Can it have a door on both sides?

Yes, a rear door is available as an option. Useful where the approach is easier from one direction than the other.

Can we see the test report before ordering?

Yes. Ask and we will send it, along with the dimensioned drawing and the certifications.

What does it cost?

Ask us, because this model is quoted rather than listed. Tell us the market and the quantity and we will price it with the rest of your project.

Does it need building work or landlord approval?

No. It is freestanding on levelling feet, plugs into a standard socket and is not fixed to the building.

Are the front and rear both glass?

Yes. Every FocusPod has glass at both the front and rear. Standard glass is clear. Optional PDLC privacy glass can be selected for the front only or for both the front and rear.

Can I move the pod once it is installed?

Yes. Every FocusPod has built-in wheels and adjustable levelling feet. Raise the feet to move the pod on its wheels, then lower and adjust them to level the pod in its new position.
